Yesterday marked the successful completion of the three-year "Stop the Stigma - Empowering Dreams of Menstruating Girls in Bangladesh" project at a Learning Sharing Workshop in Dhaka. In partnership with Plan International Bangladesh, SAJIDA Foundation has reached 40,000 participants across rural Bhola, breaking taboos and building knowledge around menstrual health and hygiene management. The project also extended to Shyamnagar through the collaboration between WaterAid Bangladesh and Rupantar.
"Our field facilitator for the STS project is from Bhola itself, and our investment in building their capacity was instrumental in achieving the significant breakthrough this project aimed for," stated SAJIDA's DCEO Md. Fazlul Hoque, emphasising how local leadership creates lasting transformation.
With government tax exemptions on raw materials set to reduce menstrual hygiene product costs and strong commitment from partners including UNICEF, Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, and ICT Division, SAJIDA Foundation is building a future where every girl can pursue her dreams without barriers.
This initiative exemplifies community-led development - investing in local voices, creating sustainable change, and empowering the next generation.
