The Psychological Health & Wellness Clinic (PHWC) launched a range of psychological services on February 17, 2018 through a daylong Open House featuring a variety of mental health and wellness activities. The PHWC located in Banani, provides high-quality mental health services through a team of qualified professional staff with multicultural clinical experience for clients who value quality, non-judgmental and confidential treatment to address their concerns. Mr. Zunaid Ahmed Palak, MP, Honorable State Minister, Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, officially launched the Clinic by cutting a ribbon at the event. Present at the occasion were Ms. Zahida Fizza Kabir, Chairman of PHWC and Executive Director of SAJIDA Foundation, Dr. Ashique Selim, Managing Director of PHWC and Ms. Nissim Jan Sajid – Additional Managing Director, along with other representatives of PHWC. Other distinguished special guests included Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Former Governor of Bangladesh Bank and Founder and member of Board of Trustees, East West University; and Mr. Syed Monjurul Islam, Deputy Executive Director, icddr,b, and former Health Secretary, Bangladesh; Mr. Radwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby, Trustee of Centre for Research and Information (CRI) and Mr. Iresh Zaker, a popular television and film actor and Managing Director, Asiatic EXP. Mr. Zunaid Ahmed Palak, MP, Honorable State Minister, Ministry of Information and Communication Technology stated: “We must place equal importance to the need for both physical and mental wellbeing. We thank PHWC for taking the initiative to create a healthy future generation for Bangladesh. We will extend our full support to PHWC in their efforts to digitize their mental health services.” Besides the ribbon cutting ceremony, there were daylong events promoting mental health and wellbeing, which included aromatherapy, memory testing, arts and crafts, mindful coloring as well as clay modeling by Clay Station. PHWC is a one-stop place for psychological health and wellness needs, providing the highest levels of care ranging from psychiatric assessment and psychological counseling/ therapy to lifestyle modification through group wellness activities. On-site services of the Clinic include Bio-Psycho-Social Triage, Psychiatric Assessment and treatment, Individual & Group Psychological Counselling via short/long term therapy, and also wellness-based workshops/ training in the ‘Wellness Day Centre’. Off-site services of the Clinic include ‘Corporate and Garment Worker Wellness Training’, Crisis Management Counselling services in humanitarian aid settings as well as Individual Counselling services at private universities.
