As the world transitions from long-stay psychiatric institutions to community-based care for chronic mental illnesses, it becomes society’s responsibility to create space for these facilities. PROSHANTI, a supported living service intervention for individuals with long-term mental illnesses, helps them to reintegrate into society through proper care, functional assistance, and vocational training.

Over the last two years, PROSHANTI is ensuring community-based care, that promotes inclusivity and reduces stigma associated with mental health issues in the country. It is with immense pleasure that we announce the World Health Organization (WHO) has recognized PROSHANTI’s efforts in its WHO SEAR 2024 community-based mental health services report.

This recognition validates our ongoing commitment to providing person-centered, rights-based services to supporting individuals with long-term mental illnesses.
