Sanitation workers work to protect public health every day, yet access to healthcare for them often remains uncertain.
Today, Dhaka North City Corporation, SAJIDA Foundation and Harpic Bangladesh officially launched the "Shasthya Nirapotta Scheme," a health protection initiative designed to bring healthcare security closer to them.
Through the scheme, sanitation workers can access up to 50 percent discounts on outpatient and inpatient services, medicines and diagnostics across more than 400 listed hospitals, with an annual premium of only Tk 199. The scheme also extends support to family members, including Tk 30,000 in financial assistance in the event of death.
The Shasthya Nirapotta Scheme was co developed by SAJIDA Foundation in 2022 in collaboration with insurance service provider Chartered Life Insurance PLC and WaterAid Bangladesh, with Harpic supporting the programme as a corporate partner. Rooted in a simple belief, the initiative recognises that those who safeguard public health deserve full safety, dignity and wellbeing.
