Network of WASH Networks, comprising 10 national and international networks working to improve water, sanitation, and hygiene in Bangladesh, held a National Dialogue with political parties this week, in coordination with WaterAid Bangladesh. An action agenda calling for a national commitment to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene for all was presented to the parties, urging its inclusion in their 13th National Parliamentary Election manifestos.

SAJIDA Foundation joined the dialogue as a member of "End Water Poverty," emphasising that national development is impossible without universal access to WASH and that election manifestos must include clear, measurable, and budgeted commitments to citizens’ well-being.

The Network also submitted a comprehensive memorandum demanding dedicated national budget allocations for WASH, clear policies on menstrual health and hygiene management, formal recognition of WASH as a priority sector in national financing frameworks, employment generation through the WASH sector, and sustainable economic models for WASH service delivery.

As the country approaches the next election, there is a strong expectation that these commitments will translate into action, accountability, and impact.
